A cheeky reply to a pay day loan spam link request

I run the fabulous Akismet anti blog spam plugin for WordPress on my site; it’s excellent with over a 98% success rate.  Occasionally however, it misses a couple – usually a request for someone to write a guest post on my site.  I’m sure there are many others out there who’ve also received similar requests.

Dont get me wrong, get postings are a great idea, and have their place but please:

1. Be honest who you are

2. At least write about a topic you’re passionate about

3. Write proper

Now, rather than just delete it I thought I’d reply, and post it on here – just for random like.  Unfortunately for the requester, I’ve removed their links to their pay day loan site (personally I think pay day loan providers are nothing short of legal loan sharks charging extortionate interest rates to the poorest and more vulnerable and that there are better ways to get out of debt).

The original request is a pleasant enough email….

But… I was absolutely gutted to learn that Alicia wasn’t in fact a fellow northerner, but an imposter from India! (see their IP address).  Why oh why do people have to lie?

Anyhow, I thought I’d offer them my services back:

Hello Alicia,

Thank you for the email.
Unfortunately I wouldnt be interested in content being written for me.
I would however be happy to write an article for publication on my website – I charge a very reasonable £395 for this service, payable over 12 low monthly instalments of £126.46 (2392% APR representative).
The article would include a link to your website, and the content would be relevant to the topic of Pay Day Loans.
Let me know if this would be of interest to you.
Kind regards,

The Business Cookbook
